Technical Lead · September 2026

The short version.

Fertally is a clinical software platform in fertility care, going through EU MDR Class IIa conformity assessment as software as a medical device. We are preparing to launch our pilot clinic trials this year. We need a Technical Lead to take over the codebase, the release discipline and the engineering culture from the founder, who has built it to this point.

This is a ground-floor role in something that is about to grow. The salary is nominal until our next round of funding, and we would rather say that plainly than dress it up.

There is a salary. It is not yet the salary the role deserves.

If you want to be the person who took a medical device from pre-CE to CE Mark and beyond, and to own that outcome from the start, this is something you might want to read.

What you would be joining.

Fertally is a full web application, also shipped as a native app, built as a clinical platform for patients and their clinicians. It is EU-hosted, and data sovereignty is a founding principle for us, not a feature. It is built under a Class IIa quality system from day one, and it already has real users and real clinics.

We are a small team of founders: a CEO who is technical and built the platform to this point, a COO, and a Clinical Lead, with a set of advisors around us. Pre-seed funding from Enterprise Ireland is secured.

What you will own.

This is a hands-on role. You will write code most days. You will also be the person the rest of the company relies on for every technical decision.

How we work.

Compensation.

Salary
A nominal salary now.It increases with our next round of investment. Email us and we will tell you the current figure straight away.
Equity
Options are there for the right person, and scale with seniority.Someone who steps in at CTO level sees a materially larger allocation than an early-career hire. What they look like depends on the role you take on, your experience and your commitment, and we will talk about them openly at offer stage.
Timing
You join before the growth, not after it. The seat, the scope and the story are yours from the first day.
Holidays
30 days off a year20 days annual leave plus Ireland's 10 public holidays.
Balance
We are a startup, and that cuts both ways. Life balance matters to us, and the working week is flexible. If you work better in the evening some days, that is fine. A few fixed meetings a week are agreed in advance, and outside of those there is a lot of freedom in how you shape your days.
Working
Remote within Ireland, with occasional in-person meetings. Laptop, tooling and conference budget as needed.

What this leads to.

You would be the first technical hire in a medtech company at the moment it moves from build to clinic. When Fertally succeeds, you will have been the engineer who carried a Class IIa device through CE Mark, built the team around it, and set the standard for how the platform was made. Those are not things you can add to a CV by joining later.

Apply.

Send your CV, a short note and a link to something you have built or led. Then answer one question in under 250 words: what is one feature Fertally does not have that you think it needs, and how would you build it? No cover letter, no template.

Applications close on 1 October 2026. We will reply to everyone who applies.
